French graffiti artist Fafi seems to be everywhere these days. From collaborations with Adidas to toys for Sony, the recent media saturation belies the fact that Fafi's streetwise sirens have been filtering into the mainstream for well over a decade now.

Making their debut appearance on buildings in her hometown of Toulouse, Fafi's sexy girl characters were imbued with a sense of fun and sassiness hitherto missing from most street art.

As a teenager the young Fafi would sneak out at night to paint the bare walls of the city and alongside contemporaries like Kat & Miss Van brought a whole new aesthetic to graffiti art. Her self-proclaimed 'porno girls' were provocative stereotypes that aimed to challenge narrow definitions of femininity.

The Fafinettes have long since come down from those walls, travelling out into the world on clothes and accessories, as toys and animation - even tattoos. With her girlie art proving easily translatable into so many diverse mediums Fafi's latest project sees her team up with make-up giant MAC.
